AI Video Without the Slop: Our Process

Most AI video is forgettable. The difference between premium content and slop isn't the model — it's the process. Here's ours, step by step.

The difference between premium AI content and “AI slop” isn’t the tool — it’s everything around the tool. The same model that produces a viral brand film also produces the soulless, uncanny clips flooding every feed. What separates them is process, taste, and post-production. Here’s how we approach it.

Why most AI content looks cheap

Most AI video fails for predictable reasons:

  • No art direction. Default prompts produce default aesthetics — that plasticky, over-lit, “stock footage from 2027” look everyone now recognises and scrolls past.
  • No human pass. Raw generations are treated as finished assets instead of raw footage. No grading, no edit, no sound design.
  • No idea underneath. A technically impressive clip with nothing to say is still nothing to say. AI removes the cost of production, which means the idea is now the only thing that’s scarce.

The premium process

1. Direct it like a real shoot

Before any generation, we treat the project like a film: mood boards, a shot list, a defined colour palette, a consistent visual language. The AI is a camera and crew, not a creative director. You still need someone with taste deciding what good looks like.

2. Generate as raw footage, not final cut

A professional shoot captures far more than it uses. Same here — we over-generate, then select ruthlessly. The clips that make the cut are a small fraction of what’s produced, chosen for consistency and intent rather than novelty.

3. Post-production is where slop dies

This is the step amateurs skip and professionals never do:

  • Colour grading to unify disparate generations into one cohesive look.
  • Real sound design — AI video almost always arrives silent or with bad audio. Score, foley, and mix carry more of the emotional weight than people realise.
  • Editorial rhythm — pacing, cuts, and structure imposed by a human editor who understands tension and release.

4. Hybrid, not pure

The best AI work is rarely 100% AI. We blend generated footage with real plates, practical elements, motion graphics, and live-action where it counts. The seams are where craft hides — and where slop gives itself away.

The honest test

If a viewer can tell it’s AI within three seconds and feels nothing, it’s slop. If they’re absorbed before they think to ask, it’s content.

AI has collapsed the cost of making video. It has done nothing to lower the cost of making video worth watching. That bar — taste, direction, post — is exactly where the value moved.

This is precisely why we treat premium AI content as a production discipline, not a prompt-and-publish shortcut. The tool got cheaper. The craft didn’t.
